Senior Citizens
On reaching retirement, a third of migrants return to their home countries. Another third share their time between Switzerland and their home country, health and money permitting. The last third of retired migrants stay definitively in Switzerland.
Different ressources are available in Switzerland which allow senior citizens to live independently until they reach old age. Various professional and voluntary organisations offer a wide range of leisure and care services.
Senior citizens with on a low income can access complementary benefits from the national Old-Age pension fund.
