Recognition of Foreign Qualifications
Some foreign qualifications are recognised in Switzerland and their holders can join the profession immediately. Others need "topping up" with further studies.
Professional qualifications from EU and AELE institutions
Switzerland and the EU have an agreement allowing people holding certain types of qualification to enter a profession. Rules governing the recognition of professional qualifications are valid only for qualificatons that are officially recognised by the state where it was issued and which give direct access to a particular profession.

The Swiss Red Cross can advise on the recognition of non-medical health professionals' qualifications (care work, physiotherapy etc.)

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) will examine demands for recognition of foreign medical qualifications (doctors, dentists, veterinarians) from EU nationals.
