Household insurance

The unexpected can happen: your home may be damaged by fire, water, weather, burglary or robbery. Many Swiss households protect themselves against damage to furniture, clothing, electrical devices and other everyday objects with a household insurance.

This is usually an optional insurance. In general, household goods are insured at their current market price. This allows insured parties to replace any damaged items with an alternative of the same value bought new.
Please note!
In the cantons of Basel, Fribourg, Glarus, Jura, Nidwal, Solothurn and Vaud, every household must insure property against fire.

Before signing a household insurance contract, compare what is on offer from several companies.
